North of Santiago, the Serra Malagueta (1 064m) is a paradise for hikers. It encompasses spectacular landscapes, often shrouded in mist. Trails totalling 50km cross this mountainous and wooded nature park, with several lush ribeiras populated by endemic species. You can follow the Ribeira Principal from the park's entrance as far as the ocean, which takes you through a wide variety of vegetation, crops and hamlets. It is advisable to be accompanied by a guide.
